Hey bud, Just like Dahaka said, if another anti-virus(ESET) is working for you, then great but I would make sure you do not have any serious infections? I have used SEP off and on for years and have never seen or even heard of it behaving the way your copy was. I know they are rare now days but I would suspect the possibility of a worm-like virus. The reason I state this is these types of viruses work by spreading the infection to any file that is accessed by the primary infection. In theory if this is the root cause, if the virus is spreading, it could infect SEP's virus definitions because as they are downloaded and installed, they are in memory and that is fair game for the multiplication of the virus. Again, no way to know for sure but I know this is how these types of viruses operate because I Have had to deal with them first hand in the mid 2000s.
